Epson, a global technology leader, is seeking a dynamic Analyst for New Business Development. This role offers an exciting opportunity to focus on strategic analysis and research to identify and evaluate new business opportunities. The goal is to drive Epson’s growth beyond its core product categories, significantly increasing revenues and diversifying the business. You'll play a key role in helping Epson successfully enter high-growth sectors, leveraging the company’s core strengths through organic growth, acquisitions, or strategic partnerships.

 

This position is based out of Epson America’s headquarters in Los Alamitos, CA with an opportunity for a hybrid schedule.

 

Core Responsibilities and Duties

  • Gather, review and synthesize market information from published reports, research and articles to profile and analyze potential new product and market categories, including the relevant segments and key trends within these sectors.
  • Plan and conduct interviews with experts / executives within potential new growth sectors to get a deeper understanding of the potential opportunities, challenges and industry dynamics within them
  • Develop market sizing and growth forecasting models for prospective new growth areas in both units and revenues, including under different scenarios
  • Gather and summarize information on key competitors within potential growth sectors
  • Identify and profile potential companies to partner with or acquire in attractive new growth sectors; perform preliminary aspects of due diligence on potential candidates
  • Summarize results of the above-mentioned activities into a comprehensive “Marketscape”  in a PowerPoint presentations to brief executives on the potential opportunities.
  • Engage with and provide support to third party consultants, as needed

Requirements

  • Undergraduate business degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in growth strategies, market assessments and modeling work at a growth-strategy focused management consulting firm and/or an M&A advisory company or within a Strategy / New Business Development department of a large or mid-sized corporation
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking skills, with a track record of gathering, analyzing and summarizing large amounts of market data to develop comprehensive market and competitive assessments.  
  • Proven experience at financial modeling - developing detailed market size and growth estimates as well as potential revenue and profitability estimates under different scenarios.
  • Experience doing some qualitative market research, specifically one-on-one interviews with experts and industry executives, including identifying relevant potential candidates, developing interview discussion guides, setting up and conducting the interviews via Zoom/phone or in-person and summarizing the results.
  • Strong communication skills – able to summarize results of comprehensive market analyses into concise PowerPoint slides to enable executives to quickly understand the potential opportunities and challenges.  Also, professional verbal skills for conducting one-on-one interviews with industry experts and/or communicating with executives at EAI.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented – able to operate under limited supervision, with a sense of urgency and attention to detail.  Able to structure and execute multiple stages in a project to completion.

Travel

Most of the work will be at Epson America headquarters in Los Alamitos, California, but some travel is expected, potentially up to 10-15% of the time, primarily to research potential opportunities and meet with industry experts and potential partners.

The starting annual base pay for this role is between USD $73,113  and $119,596. Please note that this position’s salary range may include multiple levels. The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
