We are looking for a highly motivated, energetic, and experienced Accountant, who will perform the day-to-day accounting function. The incumbent will be responsible for handling the fundamental aspects of the company financial recordkeeping.




Financial Analysis and Reporting

  1. Provides regular financial analysis and regular reporting of assigned areas within required timelines.
  2. Prepares monthly journal entries to record activity in assigned accounts.
  3. With limited direction, provides analysis and ad-hoc reporting to internal customers and Senior Management.
  4. Responsible for completing assigned portions of monthly reporting package for Seiko Epson Corporation (SEC).
  5. Participates in internal and external audit functions. 
  6. Reconciles various general ledger accounts (e.g., lease liabilities and market development funds for Epson Canada) and independently resolves issues.
  7. Ensures that system-generated reports and downloads for assigned areas are complete, accurate, and useful in analysis and journal entry preparation; provides recommendations for reporting enhancements.
  8. Oversees intercompany accounting function including the reconciliation of inter-company balances. Communicates as necessary with key contacts at SEC and other affiliates as well as Epson America.


Tax Compliance and Reporting / Insurance / Transfer Pricing

  1. Supports compliance with appropriate provincial and local tax jurisdictions.
  2. Prepares or reviews tax filings for timely submission as directed by the Tax Manager
  3. Prepares workpapers for monthly and quarterly tax provisions for Epson Canada.
  4. Supports preparation of the income tax return and estimated tax payments.
  5. Prepares responses for management review in support of external tax audits. Interacts with tax authorities as directed by the Tax Manager.
  6. Prepares insurance policy renewals and submits payment requests.
  7. Prepares testing, reporting and recording of transfer price adjustments.


Internal Controls and Business Analysis

  1. Analyzes the adequacy of internal controls for financial reporting and safeguarding of assets.
  2. Makes recommendations to improve internal controls and assists in implementation. 
  3. Provides analysis of redemption rates for rebates to assist in Senior Management pricing decisions.



  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in accounting
  • Understanding of Federal and Provincial taxes and its accounting treatment
  • Exposure to month-end and quarter-end book closure process
  • Understanding of monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, various GL, and intercompany accounts
  • Experience working with multi-currency environment
  • Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism
  • Handling of confidential and sensitive information with a high degree of discretion
  • Bachelor’s degree in business / finance, or related
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Working knowledge of  SAP and Microsoft Office applications with a high proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to work in a team environment, and work well under pressure with firm deadlines
  • Must possess excellent communication, problem solving and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
